Prime minister big winner in debate, Labour support slides

Prime minister Mark Rutte was the big winner in last week’s debate on the new government’s plans, according to the latest Maurice de Hond online opinion poll.

Some 39% of those polled thought Rutte did best in the debate, with SP leader Emile Roemer and GroenLinks leader Femke Halsema sharing second place with 11% support.

Labour leader Job Cohen took just 1% of the votes.

De Hond says the debate also boosted Rutte’s VVD back into first place in the poll. The party would take 33 seats if there was a general election tomorrow. Geert Wilders’ anti-Islam PVV fell by two seats to 31.
