The Flaming Blog – Send a Post Card to the Dutch Minister for Justice
By Nonie Darwish via FrontPage Magazine – Prosecuted for Stating Truths:
Dutch MP Geert Wilders is being prosecuted in Holland for “inciting hatred and discrimination” and for insulting Muslims by comparing Islam to Nazism. But how can Muslims be offended with such a comparison when one of the most prominent 20th century Muslim scholars made a similar comparison? In his book Islamic Law and Constitution, Sheikh Abul Ala Maududi wrote: “It [Islamic State] seeks to mould every aspect of life and activity…In such a state no one can regard any field of his affairs as personal and private. Considered from this aspect, the Islamic State bears a kind of resemblance to the Fascist and Communist states.” Maududi’s characterization of the Muslim State was intended to be negative and was never challenged by any Muslim scholar or institution as inaccurate or unfair.
Many Muslims are offended by Wilders’ questioning — and any questioning, criticism or exploration of Muslim scriptures — because Muslims themselves are not allowed to do that. Under Islamic Law, a Muslim will be considered an apostate if he questions or denies any thing in the Quran, Hadith, or Islamic Shari’a law. Muslims who have been brought up never to question Islam are suddenly answering questions asked in the West by stifling freedom of speech. Of course, Islam denotes this territory as the Dar Al Harb, or house of war.

The Brussels Journal – Muslims in the Lords:
The House of Lords is a venerable British institution, but what does one get if one accepts Muslims in? This:
A member of the Lords intended to invite her colleagues to a private meeting in a conference room in the House of Lords to meet the Dutch politician Geert Wilders, an elected member of the Dutch parliament, to watch his controversial movie Fitna and discuss the movie and Mr. Wilders’ opinions with him.
Barely had the invitation been sent to all the members of the House when Lord Ahmed raised hell. He threatened to mobilize 10,000 Muslims to prevent Mr. Wilders from entering the House and threatened to take the colleague who was organizing the event to court. The result is that the event, which should have taken place next Thursday was cancelled.
A victory for the Muslim community, but a defeat for British democracy where topics to which Muslims object cannot even be debated. That, apparently, is what one gets when one accepts Muslims into the House of Lords.

Anti-immigration MP Geert Wilders is getting pro bono legal help from a US organisation devoted to protecting free speech, according to Fox News.
The Legal Project was founded after a number of cases in which authors and activitists were sued for alleged hate speech against Muslims and Islam, the tv station says.
Earlier this week the Amsterdam appeal court ruled that Wilders should face prosecution for inciting hatred and discrimination.
‘The Legal Project helped me when I was in the United States, arranging meetings with important legal scholars and elected officials,’ Fox News quoted the Dutch MP as saying.
‘They also helped bring public attention to my case, which hopefully will help me raise money for my legal defence fund.’
